Iguazu Falls: Argentinian Side

Unlike the day before (see Iguazu - The Brazilian Side) we woke up to rather hideous looking weather. We knew it would rain but it was still hot and we were still in the mood for more waterfalls.

Things started off well for us. We stopped for a bit of a photo shoot in front of Los Dos Hermanas (The 2 sisters). We think the resemblance is uncanny!

alt=Next we took a small boat across from the mainland and 5 minutes later we arrived in Isla de San Martin. There was one small problem though, click on the photo to your left to hear...

After returning from the Island the weather had dramatically changed! It was pouring with rain. It was like Noah´s flood had started and we´d missed the ark. We cowered in a cafe praying for the rain to ease so we could make it to the main event. Unfortunately an hour later it was no lighter and we decided to brave it and make a run for the train...

alt=We waited for what seemed a life time for the train to arrive and when it did, no one got off! Not surprising really, everyone wanted to see the prize and no one was interested in what our stop had to offer. Once on the train we would discover that the main occupants of the train were some two hundred middle-aged Indian medical graduates on a reunion. We mused to them about how they were all identically dressed but no one found that funny. It was only when they got off the train that we wondered if they really were medical graduates or members of some other well known clan?

alt=When the train stopped, we lept off, fled through the crowds and swam through the sodden air until we arrived at the jackpot - La Gargantua del Diablo or The Devil´s Throat. We were literally in awe and most grateful that we´d missed the ark! Click on the photo to your left to hear more...
